ABOUT ME

AND WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO

MY BACKGROUND
With a bilingual upbringing in
Switzerland and Scotland, and degrees in Fine Art (Goldsmiths, London) and Documentary Filmmaking (Observatorio de Cine, Buenos Aires), visual arts, moving image, language, and culture have always been essential elements of my professional journey. Ten years ago, this path naturally led me to specialise as a translator in the film and cultural sectors and I haven't looked back since.

CLOSE COLLABORATION & CULTURAL NUANCE
I spent many years traveling through and living in different countries to eventually find my home in Argentina. This
cross-cultural existence taught me the importance of cultural subtleties and how non-verbal elements like images, sound, and timing often speak much louder than words.

And my love for these subtleties is a big part of how I approach translation. It's why I hugely value the close relationships I form with filmmakers and producers, believing that close collaboration in translation is essential for the creation to resonate with audiences in a way that feels native, never foreign or translated. This approach allows me to accompany a film from its very first ideas—working through treatments, scripts, rewrites, and re-edits—and help visual artists find the right words to communicate abstract concepts before they even materialize.

WORKING WITH A DYNAMIC LANGUAGE
As a native English speaker, I embrace the fact that the English language keeps growing and adapting globally, absorbing phrases and nuance from diverse cultures and becoming a language spoken by more non-natives than natives. This fascinating and stimulating foundation for my work allows me to deliver translations that are as complex and nuanced as the film and art projects themselves.
